8 Simple Skills To Boost Your Self Development Journey
Self-development is an ongoing journey. Here are 8 simple skills to help you get there!
What Is Self Development?
Self development is essentially learning new skills that help us grow and expand our knowledge which in turn helps us achieve our goals with confidence and assurance.
Self development is on the rise these days with new books coming out constantly, to help you grow into the person with the unique purpose that you have!
In order to work on your self development journey, you need to adopt a certain mindset and a few skills. Here are 8 skills to help you out!
8 Simple Skills To Boost Your Self Development Journey
1. Meditation
If you have read any of my previous posts, you may have gathered by now that I am a meditation fanatic!
Meditation might seem like a relaxing process which ironically might deter you from doing it (since we live such busy lives these days and we’re always on go mode), however, that is far from the truth.
Meditation is mental work that can help you tap into your brain circuits that have been put there from past experiences, family and friends, etc, and rewire the entire system!
If you want to work on self development, meditation is one of the main skills you should be looking into.

2. Journaling
One of my personal latest obsessions and life-changing skills!
Journaling is the process of writing down your true and deepest thoughts, as well as having conversations with yourself via journal prompts.
Journaling is an incredible skill that you should absolutely start practicing if you are trying to improve yourself in any way.
Write down your goals, and an action plan. You can also accompany this process with a few positive affirmations to boost your confidence!
3. Visualizing
Similar to journaling and meditation, visualizing can have an incredible impact on your life in a short amount of time. Write down how you see your Higher Self, which is the version of you that has achieved everything you are trying to achieve. See how they behave, what skills have they picked up, and how they talk, move, act, and think.
Then take everything you’ve learned and apply it to your current reality as if you are that version of yourself now.
This is a very powerful visualization exercise and it is highly effective!
4. Creative Mindset
Having a creative mindset might sound easier said than done for some but that’s only because, for the most part, we are running on autopilot.
Think about it. You wake up at the same time everyday, you repeat the same routine, and for the most part, you keep your mind busy with responsibilities and schedules.
When we let our bodies run on autopilot, there is no room for creativity because all of our energy has been rerouted to running the autopilot program.
Make room for creative activities such as writing, painting, singing, dancing, etc and you will be well on your way to developing some incredible new skills and habits!
5. Successful Mindset
If I were to ask you, “do you think you are capable of achieving anything you want?”, what would your answer be? Be very honest on this one, there is no wrong answer, only the honest answer.
Most would say “no.” We tend to be our worst critics which might come off as “humble” but it is actually highly self-harming.
Think about some of the most successful people in the world. They were all driven by an unstoppable force, (mindset), that kept fueling them until they succeeded.
There is absolutely no difference between you, and those people. You are capable of manifesting your wildest dreams, but unless you believe in that, life will keep you exactly where you are.
Start thinking like a successful person with endless capabilities and let confidence be your main drive!

6. Self Love
Self development is a journey with ups and downs.
During the “downs” you might feel inclined to want to talk down on yourself but that is highly counterproductive!
Learn to be forgiving and loving with yourself. Remember that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be in your journey, even though it might not seem like it.
Life is full of lessons and lessons lead to growth. Slow down, take your time, and forgive yourself for any mishaps.
Practice daily self-love by affirming to yourself that you love every single part of even your darkest ones!
7. Exercise Of Your Choice
Exercise has endless benefits. There are so many kinds out there, you can definitely find that special something you can commit to.
Committing to bettering yourself mentally goes hand in hand with bettering yourself physically.
Plus, exercise boosts confidence, improves self-esteem, and reduces anxiety. It’s a no-brainer!

8. Reduce Aimless Phone Usage
We live in the era of social media and quick mental stimulation, but if that is where you pour your precious time, this can be a waste of valuable self development opportunities.
Create a specific time frame where you can go on your phone, almost like a reward, but only after you’ve done something beneficial for yourself and your goals.
By doing so you can focus on your self-growth while still enjoying the things you like doing for leisure.
