Fall is right around the corner!
This means temperatures change and so does the need for a different skin care approach.
Generally, this should be something you do whenever seasons change. Minor switches to your routine will keep temperature swing problems at bay.
So, here it is, my top 5 skin care tips for fall!
1. Reduce Exfoliating To Once A Week
Generally, exfoliation is one of those things that you can get pretty obsessed with without realizing you don’t need it as much as you think you do. (Guilty!)
As the temperatures drop, your skin becomes more prone to dryness and inflammation.
Exfoliation can do more harm than good on skin that’s battling colder temperatures. According to an article on Allure.com, it can create micro cracks in the skin, which in turn leads to more loss of hydration.
That’s a big no-no!
As soon as fall starts making its way in, I cut back my exfoliation routine to just once per week.
My personal favourite is the Buf-Puf sponge for sensitive skin types:
2. Try A More Hydrating Moisturizer
So, the thing with moisturizers is that once you’ve found what works for your skin, you want to stick to it all year long.
That’s fine and all, however, with cold temperatures rolling in, you might want to look into something more hydrating.
I personally use Cerave moisturizers, specifically the AM/PM line.
In the fall, I use the PM all day long and put on sunscreen as well.
My skin never gets itchy or irritated!
3. Don’t Skip On The SPF
Just because summer is gone it doesn’t mean that sun rays are gone too.
Please, please, please…
I carry my sunscreen with me in my purse always.
Remember, the sun is good and all, but on a microscopic level, it wants to eat away at your skin!
So put on your shield by slathering SPF just as much as you did in the summer!
My personal favourite is the Unseen Sunscreen by Supergoop 40SPF.
4. Don’t Forget Your Body
When it comes to skin care, there’s a lot of talk about facial skin care and a lot less about body skin care.
Your body needs just as much love as your face!
Moisturize your body as much yoas u do for your face.
Itchy, dry, and inflamed skin can be prevented with a light yet hydrating lotion. I choose a light one such as Cerave Body Lotion because I have acne-prone skin.
This particular one is very hydrating but very light and absorbent.
5. Layer Up!
I am such a sucker for fall accessories.
Not just for how cute they look but also because they actually protect my skin from the cool breeze!
Top off your skin care routine by wrapping a scarf around your face, or wear a ball cap hat to protect your beautiful face from the sun rays!
